Online event on energy, agri-food, economic and socio-cultural transition for young people interested in climate change
SDSN Youth Mediterranean is now officially a community partner of LCOY Italia 2021, the Italian edition of the Local Conference of Youth on Climate Change, part of the “All4ClimateItaly2021” program to make 2021 a landmark year for climate ambition.
The Local Conference of Youth is an event under the umbrella of YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Its aims are to be a space to boost youth climate action locally and create an input into the international conferences. It represents a national version of the international Conference of Youth (COY), which takes place immediately before the Conference of Parties (COP), the annual UN-Climate Conference, to collect youth stances on climate change.
The purpose of LCOY is to create a space where young people, through an experience of capacity building and policy training, can develop together concrete proposals to face global warming and its consequences in Italy and in the context of the international treaties on climate change.
This year’s Italian edition will take place online from 20 to 26 September, focusing on the different aspects of “Transition”: energy, agri-food, economic and socio-cultural.
The event consists of two phases:
- The first, focused on capacity building, will propose a series of seminars on the various aspects of the central topic of LCOY;
- The second will be organised in working groups, in which the participants will go through a creative process to develop new proposals for the reference issues.
Everybody between 18 and 35 years old can join the event, registration is open here.
